Planning Your Recovery Stay

Tips to help you prepare for a smooth, comfortable experience in Bend

Bring a Caregiver

All surgical patients are required to have a responsible adult with them for at least the first 24 hours post-procedure. We strongly recommend having a companion stay with you throughout your recovery week.

Plan for Extra Time

We recommend staying in Bend for at least 5–7 days following surgery so we can monitor your healing before you travel home. Your safety and outcome are our top priorities.

Choose Comfort

Select accommodations with easy single-level access, a comfortable bed, and nearby conveniences. Many of Bend's hotels are well-suited for recovery and accustomed to serving medical travelers.

Confirm Travel Plans

Avoid booking non-refundable flights too close to your procedure date. Recovery timelines can shift slightly, and we want you to feel comfortable — not rushed — before boarding a flight home.

Virtual Consults First

Take advantage of our virtual consultation option to meet with Dr. Carboy before you travel. This allows you to ask questions, review your options, and feel confident well ahead of your visit.

We're Here for You

Our team maintains close communication with traveling patients throughout the recovery process. After returning home, we are available by phone and telehealth for post-operative follow-up.
